Ed wrote and recorded the song ages ago and I was looking for something to do to get me used to a software package called 3DS Max 4. The lyrics were a gift and the storyboard grew very easily from them. I did rough designs for the characters and quickly built them in Max and used a plug-in called 'Character Studio' for the skeletons. When I was about half way through making the film I found out about the 'Star Wars Fan Film Awards' which were to take place in Indianapolis in 2002. This was enough to spur me on to get the film finished as it would mean we got to show the animation to a wide audience. Things couldn't have turned out better- we ended up winning the 'George Lucas Selects' award. As a result the short was shown as part of a Star Wars special on the Sci-Fi Channel and we were interviewed on ABC's Good Morning America. We also came away with a few dollars prize money and a fantastic trophey- see below...
